Goodell-Pratt No. 161 2" Bench Vise NOS in Original Box and Wrapping

This is a BRAND NEW, NEVER MOUNTED
Goodell-Pratt No. 161 2" Bench Vise, NOS, in it's Original Box and Wrapping.
This vise was one of several items left first to my father, then to me by my grandfather when he left his hardware store business many years ago.
I opened the box and removed the paper wrapping to take the vice out for these photographs. Although from age, the cardboard of the box has dried and tending to separate at the corners when handled, the box is in good visual shape considering how long it has been around. When first attempting to open the jaws, I found the original grease used on the threads had dried hard over the years in storage. The only thing I did to resolve this was to use a precision oiler pen to introduce enough light lubricant to the threads to permit the vise to function as new. If you examine the photographs of the jaws of the vise you will see they are perfect, as manufactured condition and have clamped nothing more then the ruler I used to show you the dimension of their width. Additionally, if you examine the photographs closely, you will also see where one of the two screw holes in the vertical face of the vise to secure the vise to a bench, is
remains clogged with the manufacture's black paint
.
I've seen advertisements for these by Goodell vises dating from 1917 through 1932, however this set was likely made in the period from the late 1930's but before WWII.
