2021 Duty To God Pilgrimage Course
    Philmont Training Center
    The
    2021 Duty To God Pilgrimage
patch is an unprecedented patch issue for an Inaugural course that is unlike any other Philmont Training Center course.
The Faith Journey begins in Texas by visiting the Groom Cross, travels to Santa Fe (Loretto Chapel, San Miguel Mission), Sanctuario Chimayo and then completes the course at the Philmont Training Center.
Upon completion of the unique activities encompassed by the Inaugural Duty To God Pilgrimage, all who participate received the course patch from the Director of the course on August 1st.
Both individual and as a group, our pilgrimage explored the lives of inspiring religious figures throughout history, dedicated each day to a Scouting or Religious role model in Scouting, reveled in stories how God Is At Work In Our Lives every day, had discussions between 6 different christian religions, and visited sites of historical and religious significance along the way.
The pilgrimage is a Faith Journey whether it be near the beginning, kick started or matured.
    Orient Your Life With God
While at the Philmont Training Center, participants were instructed to go out to all attendees of any current conference and hand them this patch.
They were then instructed to go to a table where they were given a Scouting giveaway which included current and past Pray Daily patches, a St Paul Miki patch, or a patch featuring the San Miguel Mission/Church at Chimayo, along with some other Scouting gems.
Philmont Training Center – Pray Daily Patch
    2021 Duty To God
    Pilgrimage
Since the first pilgrimage in 2007, Scouts and Scouters of our program have conducted a unique prayer offering following church services at Philmont.
During 2007, our Scouts said prayers in 50 different languages by phonetically saying the prayers …
    continuing in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018 in English.
The Scouts are formed into the symbol of the cross (or in a circle) as the sun has begun to set over the Tooth of Time.
As each Scout says their assigned prayer, they light a blue glowstick.
By the end of the prayers said, the sun has set, the final prayers are being said and the blue glowsticks reflect the image of a cross in the darkness at Philmont.
The visual images of blue glowsticks against a mountain backdrop is a powerful image that creates a lasting memory of a unique way of praying to Our Lord.
    Pray Daily Patch Explanation:
The word “Philmont” in English text, accompanied by the Japanese translation below it, exhibits our relationship with our Scouting Brothers in Japan and the location where we conduct a short prayer offering at Philmont.
Unfortunately, the patches were produced assuming the Scouts of Japan would participate but the resurgence of Cov19 prevented their travel to USA.
The Tooth of Time mountain peak can be seen in the background along with the trees and rocks surrounding it.
“Pray Daily” is our wish for Scouts and Scouters to make prayer a daily part of their lives.
    Dedications (During Course)
During the course, each day is dedicated to a significant Scouter who has supported Scouting religious work or a inspirational religious figure.   Several patches were produced ...
    The
2021 Duty To God Very Rev’d Ron Pogue
patch is an unprecedented patch issue that was used to dedicate the first day at the Philmont Training Center.
An Eagle Scout … his career involved many ministries during his various assignments around the country.
His latest Scouting work involved help on the BSA Board.
    The
    St Kateri Tekakwitha
patch is an unprecedented patch issue that highlights the life of the first American Indian Saint.   She persevered in her faith despite persecution.
    The
    Ken Majka
patch is an unprecedented patch issue that highlighted a long Scouting career.   When you read his record (that comes with patch), you will find stories of how he prevented a man from committing suicide, created a new ministry within an Arlington non-profit and was an "angel" who donated flight mileage so someone could visit a deathly ill relative.   A legend both within and outside of Scouting.
    Fund Raiser patches
    The
    Merry Christmas Ornament
patch (black and silver mylar borders) is an unprecedented patch issue that is one-of-a-kind.
It celebrates both our Christmas Holiday as well as the 2021 Duty To God Pilgrimage course at the Philmont Training Center, Cimarron, New Mexico.
The Merry Christmas patch is both a fund raiser and a holiday celebration patch and the First Known Christmas patch like this in Longhorn Council as a fund raiser benefiting Troop and Crew 32 sponsorship of
2021 Duty To God Pilgrimage Course - Philmont Training Center.
    Merry Christmas Ornament
    Patch Description
The 8 color Merry Christmas Ornament patch reflects Mary and Joseph hovering over the newly born Jesus.
Jesus is wrapped in swaddling cloth, bathed in the light of the star that brought the 3 wise men, and lying in a manger.
Mary sitting beside the manger and holding the baby Jesus a moment before the wise men appear before them bearing gifts.  When you turn the patch over, you will notice mention of the
2021 Duty To God Pilgrimage Course - Philmont Training Center.
"Duty to God" is ghosted on the patch.
