This vinaigrette looks like a chubby kidney bean. It is engraved on the lid.The grille features a special raised design. The box hinge and grille hinge both work fine. Box opens and closes properly. The grille is very tightly fitted to the box, but not stuck to place. sign of usage on the underside of the grille. Light dents on the edges. Light scratches on the surface.
This vinaigrette came from a large collection of antique vinaigrettes and nutmeg graters I found in a local estate sale. The owner kindly presented prior receipts, from which I learnt that the collection was acquired from various jewelers and antique dealers in the last 25 years.
